These presentations are intended as an opportunity for the local community to join together and take some time to understand the human rights issues that still plague our community as well as our world.

The event, which will be held the week of April 19th, will consist of prominent local and regional community human rights advocates who will inform the audience with their perspective on the status of our community as a whole and the problems we face in a series of half-hour lectures. The topics covered include the dilemma of religion and the discrimination that arises as a result. This first scheduled discussion will take place on Tuesday the 19th at 10:15 and feature Reverend Karp of Temple Emanuel. On Wednesday the 20th at 9:35, the issue of abuse against women and homosexual rights will be highlighted in a special one hour presentation from Alice Dahle of Amnesty International. On Thursday the 21st at 10:15, the guest will be Sabina Holland of the Salvation Army. She will give us a look at poverty in our local community and how it affects us all. The week will conclude on Friday the 22nd at 10:15 with a dialogue headed by April Johnson of Augustana College about the ever present issue of race discrimination.

Media representatives are invited to visit and meet with the students who organized the event on Wednesday, April 20th from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. Faculty members will also be available for questioning. Members of the general public are encouraged to attend during any of the lectures.
