Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) May 14, 2008 -- The Human Capital Institute (HCI) (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org), a global professional association and educator that is advancing the science of strategic talent management, and Taleo (http://www.taleo.com), a leading provider of enterprise staffing management solutions, will sponsor a live HCI Innovation Tour featuring keynote speaker Dr. Peter Cappelli, a thought leader and top educator in the field of human capital management.

HCI's Innovation Tour, Human Capital at the Helm: Talent Management as a Driver for Business Performance (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/events_innovation_tour.guid?_trainingID=2067), focuses on tackling talent issues and exploring innovative initiatives to increase business performance. It will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. ET at InterContinental The Barclay, 111 E. 48th St. in New York.

The networking and breakfast event will feature a presentation by Dr. Peter Cappelli, Professor of Management from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. Alice Snell, VP of Research for Taleo, will join him, presenting results from her multi-country survey that pinpoints talent management trends and forecasts.

Dr. Peter Cappelli is the George W. Taylor Professor of Management at the Wharton School and Director of Wharton's Center for Human Resources. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge, Mass. A respected author, he has degrees in Industrial Relations from Cornell University and in Labor Economics from Oxford, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.

Dr. Cappelli has been a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, a German Marshall Fund Fellow, and a faculty member at MIT, the University of Illinois, and the University of California at Berkeley as well as at The Wharton School. He was a staff member on the Secretary of Labor's Commission on Workforce Quality and Labor Market Efficiency, a member of the National Academy of Sciences Committee investigating changes in occupational structure and the changing educational system in the U.S., and Co-Director of the U.S. Department of Education's National Center on the Educational Quality of the Workforce (EQW).

Named one of the 25 most influential people in the field of human capital by Vault.com, and one of the top 100 people in the field of recruiting by Recruiter.com, Dr. Cappelli was also elected to the National Academy of Human Resources. In 2003, he was named Senior Advisor to the Kingdom of Bahrain with responsibility for recommendations concerning that country's labor market and employment systems and in 2004 was named Editor of the Academy of Management Executives.

"High-performance organizations know that people make the difference in business success, and that a solid talent management strategy is a must," said Christine Abbatiello, Director of HCI's Talent Strategy Community (http://www.humancapitalinstitute.org/hci/track_community_talent_strategy.guid).
