District 53 Toastmasters Sets April 9th As Human Resource Professionals Day

Hartford, CT (PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- District 53 Toastmasters, covering all of Connecticut, parts of Eastern NY state, and Western Massachusetts, has named April 9th, 2008 "Human Resource Professionals Day" to acknowledge human resource (HR) professionals for their critical role in the workplace.

In recognition of their role, District 53 Toastmasters has set up a web-based resource, www.District53Toastmasters.org/HR-web-resource.html, to help HR Professionals learn how they can improve the communication and leadership skills of the people within their companies.

The role of Human Resource Professionals is in a state of flux. In today's competitive marketplace, the role of a human resource professional needs to become a strategic and competitive advantage by focusing on attracting and developing the best people. District 53 Toastmasters, a non-profit public speaking and leadership development organization, has recognized this shift and has created HR Professionals Day on April 9th, 2008 to draw attention to the need for the development and training of employees, thus improving their competitiveness in the global marketplace.

On-site corporate Toastmasters clubs can be started for employees as cost-effective training. Companies such as AT&T, Microsoft and Bank of America have already seen Toastmasters' formula work for them. Bob Mandala of Celebration Florida is national program director for Team Bank America. He says "in our business, communication skills are essential to success, and we are constantly dealing with the public. Every interaction is an opportunity to impress, and Toastmasters helps us increase the likelihood of having a successful outcome."

To read more about Bank of America's success with Toastmasters and more information about how you can start a club at your company, visit www.District53Toastmasters.org/HR-web-resource.html.
